Year 2000 computer glitches could spark a "worldwide crisis,"
warns a report by the Senate Special Committee on the Year 2000
Technology Problem.

The report, the most comprehensive analysis to date of the risks
posed by the so-called millennium bug, will be released later
this week. The Washington Post, which obtained a draft copy,
reported today that widespread computer breakdowns threaten
"one of the most serious and potentially devastating events
this nation has ever encountered."
