Chapter V
Inquisitive people are merely funnels of conversation. They do not take in anything for
their own use, but merely to pass it on to others.
Sir Richard Steele (1672-1729)
English dramatist, essayist, editor
Days after the telephone conversation with Addie, Willard purchased a cellular phone with
the associated telepone service. Calling Addie thereby insured privacy. A further
meeting with Richard at Bush Gardens provided additional information about the covert
terrorist activities. While the parrots talked Richard told Willard that the organization
would begin operation within the near future.
"We should stop them before they begin, " said Richard.
"Terminate them? " asked Willard.
"Stop them in any way you can. "
"I've only killed people during the war. "
"This is war. "
"What is the site? "
"Wintergarden. "
"Ha. "
"Why do you laugh? "
"Out of the way, huh? "
"Outside Orlando "
Richard informed Willard concerning the street location. That evening Richard drove to the
site, and observed for activity. Humidity hung in the atmosphere like a wet
blanket. Love bugs hit his automobile as he watched the building from a block away
across the road. He had 20/10 vision so that he would be able to observe anyone
entering or exiting from the building.
The three story apartment building had some lights on the third floor. A woman
dressed on the first floor behind a curtain, her silouette dancing with the light. A
cigarret hit the pavement from the second floor window, igniting the ground with
sparks. His M60 with grenade launcher on the seat next to him reflected the lampost
glow.
Driving the automobile, Willard approached the building, stopped across from the building
to watch. The smoker looked out apparently without seeing his automobile, given his
extinguished headlights. The woman's body looked aluring, as she moved behind the
curtain, stimulating Willard's attention. The smoker picked up a object and seemed
to point it at Willard. Willard lifted the M60 rifle aimed the barrel at the smoker
and fired a grenade that exploded the second story. The building apparently crushed
the first storey as the second story vaporized. A shock wave hit Willard's vehicle
forcing him to recoil from the explosion, which destroyed the building.
His vehicle accelerated to 79 miles an hour in 10 seconds 400 horses galloping at top
speed. On the turnpike toward Orlando Willard turned the CB and police band on for
monitoring reactions.
"Report an explosion in Wintergarden, " said the lady on the police radio.
"Dispatch police from Orlando and Wintergarden to site, because of the nature of the
explosion. " Willard monitored the highway patrol responses to the lady.
"Patrol car 283 responding, what is the address? " Page 19
